WhatsApp has expanded the capabilities of its web platform by introducing voice and video calling directly through web browsers, eliminating the need for users to install the desktop application. The new functionality allows users to place and receive both individual and group voice or video calls from WhatsApp Web, marking one of the platform’s most significant feature additions in recent years. Alongside browser-based calling, WhatsApp has introduced a dedicated Calls section on the web interface. For example, a conversation started on a smartphone can be transferred to WhatsApp Web or the desktop application and vice versa. To improve call quality, WhatsApp is rolling out noise suppression, which minimizes background sounds during conversations.
