Aberdeen-Inverness rail services restored after hours of disruption

Rail services between Aberdeen and Inverness are being reintroduced after signalling faults caused hours of disruption across the north-east and Highlands.
Reintroducing trains between Inverness and AberdeenA spokesperson for Network Rail said: “We’ve fixed the signal fault between Aberdeen and Forres.
“ScotRail services between Aberdeen and Inverness are being reintroduced, with local services (Inverness-Elgin and Montrose/Aberdeen-Inverurie) to follow.
Throughout the disruption, ticket acceptance was put in place on Stagecoach North bus services between Aberdeen and Inverness in both directions.
National Rail had warned passengers to expect cancellations and alterations to services while engineers worked to restore the railway.
