Maybe I came off as trying too hard or too eager to keep the conversation going, like I wanted it to lead somewhere. When I spoke with my guy friends, they told me that they never ask for a girl’s Instagram handle first. I’ve been too afraid to ask and trust, since putting myself out there means that I could get hurt in the process. Maybe that would’ve meant starting another conversation with Taylor Swift Guy and testing the waters of perhaps something more, or maybe not. But I’m also content knowing that the passing strangers around us might actually not be passing — all we have to do is ask.
