The Cincinnati Opera will open its 2027 Summer Festival with a world premiere honoring civil rights icon John Lewis, leading a season that also features classic operas and the return of a fan-favorite musical.
Last Saturday, the Cincinnati Opera announced its 2027 Summer Festival dates and productions prior to the opera’s opening night performance of Georges Bizet’s “Carmen.”
Evans Mirageas, the Cincinnati Opera’s artistic director, took the stage to share with audiences all that the organization has planned for next summer’s slate, which starts June 18 and runs through Aug. 1.
Not performed at Music Hall since 2015, Puccini’s final opera “Turandot” will take the stage in a new-to-Cincinnati production (July 24 and 30; August 1).
