The Deming Police Officers Association recognized members of the Deming Police Department for their service and achievements during an awards ceremony Saturday at the Trees Lake Amphitheater, honoring officers, supervisors and support personnel. The event, organized by the association, brought together officers, department leadership, family members and guests to celebrate accomplishments from the past year. While the association coordinated the entire ceremony, several awards were presented by department administrators, recognizing performance in a variety of areas including investigations, traffic enforcement, community policing and leadership. Among the afternoon’s highest honors, K-9 Officer Danny Calderon was named officer of the year, recognizing his contributions and performance. Officer Brian Garcia was honored for his work in traffic enforcement, receiving the award for traffic enforcement officer of the year, as he led the department in citations during the year.
