The North Platte/Lincoln County visitor’s bureau has approved a $25,000 grant that will go toward a life-size sculpture depicting Buffalo Bill’s Last Farewell. It will be a life-size replica of Ted Long’s “Buffalo Bill’s Last Farewell,” paying tribute not only to Buffalo Bill’s legacy, but also to Ted Long’s; both of whom have strong ties to the North Platte community. Making this sculpture full-size was Long’s dream and this project brings that dream to life, Visit North Platte Executive Director Lisa Burke said in announcing the grant. Visit North Platte operates under an agreement with the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners to facilitate the Nebraska Visitors Development Act. Grant funds, marketing, and operating expenses for Visit North Platte are funded by taxes collected from overnight stays at hotels and motels.
