Alfred and Jefferson-Wooden to meet in Zurich

Olympic champion Julien Alfred and world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden will resume their rivalry in the women’s 100m at the Zurich leg of the Wanda Diamond League on August 27.
St. Lucia’s Alfred and the USA’s Jefferson-Wooden have been the two fastest female sprinters in the world in recent years, sweeping up almost every major global title since 2024.
Sponsored | Article continues below ↓Jefferson-Wooden won bronze behind Alfred in Paris before storming to a historic triple gold medal in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m in Tokyo last September.
Sponsored | Article continues below ↓Both have notched up 100m victories in the Diamond League this season, with Jefferson-Wooden winning in Stockholm and Eugene and Alfred clocking a windy 10.76 in Oslo.
Zurich is the 14th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
