In mid-July, I attended the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s inaugural “The Nelson Mandela Global Leadership Forum,” which featured Mayor Mamdani as the keynote speaker. Nelson Mandela was a principled leader who stood by his convictions, even when they were unpopular in the eyes of some people around the world. Mandela was for unity and respect for all people, which Mayor Mamdani perfectly summed up by stating, “Solidarity is not perfection.Solidarity is not purity. Especially, since Netanyahu will presumably be in New York City, for the United Nations General Assembly, which is held annually, in late September. Mayor Mamdani made his case in a powerful condemnation of Netanyahu.
