Starting 28 July 2026, Tesla owners now have to pay RM0.88 per kWh to charge at Tesla Destination Charging locations. In a written reply to the Dewan Negara published Tuesday, Miti confirmed there’s no price control mechanism for public EV charging in Malaysia. As for scale, the numbers show just how fast the public charging network has grown: as of 31 May 2026, Malaysia had 6,416 public EV chargers installed nationwide. This will, in turn, accelerate the expansion of the public EV charging network across the country. In other words, the free-for-all pricing environment that let Tesla phase out free charging might not last forever.
