PACIFIC leaders in Congress have introduced a resolution to mark 55 years of diplomatic ties with Fiji while reaffirming the United States’ long-term commitment to regional security and environmental cooperation. The bipartisan resolution is co-led by Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata of American Samoa, alongside Representative for California’s 6th Congressional District, Ami Bera; Representative for Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District Ed Case; and for Guam’s At-Large Congressional District, James Moylan. Bera noted this resolution proved the US was committed to remain a reliable partner to the Pacific. “Fiji is a valued security partner and regional leader, and our continued cooperation is essential to advancing peace, stability, and prosperity throughout the Pacific.” “As associate members of the Pacific Islands Forum, Guam commends Fiji’s commitment to regional solidarity, mutual security, and economic resilience,” Moylan stated.
