The Marlborough Youth Debate Club hosted the relaxed and jovial debate where three Marlborough Boys’ College Year 11 students argued against two Marlborough District Council staffers and an entrepreneur. The debate, held at the Marlborough Youth Trust MySpace on Monday, centred on the statement: “By 2055, the most qualified candidate for mayor will be an AI chatbot.” Student Luke Tucker argued an AI mayor would be far more accessible and attentive to each of its constituents. Student Joshua White argued an AI mayor would have more consistent decision-making, as it lacked the ideological and party loyalties of a human mayor.
