Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered relevant authorities to eliminate unnecessary posts and positions across government departments as part of efforts to improve public sector performance. Chairing a review meeting on the federal governments right-sizing initiatives, the prime minister directed that a third-party audit be conducted of all posts and institutions abolished under the programme. PM Shehbaz said modern technology and improved training should be utilised to significantly enhance the performance of government institutions. He described the elimination of unnecessary posts as an important component of the governments reform agenda and stressed that implementation of right-sizing measures should be accelerated to improve overall efficiency. Officials briefed the prime minister on progress made by the Right-Sizing Committee, noting that the measures had reduced the ratio of federal civilian government expenditure to GDP.
