BACKUS — Despite warm weather, the community turned out Sunday, July 19, for the annual Backus Lions fly-in pancake breakfast fundraiser. Backus Lions Club President Mel Taylor won the chaise lounge; Crystal Ammerman won the barbecue grill and supplies; and Nan Miller won the large outside plant arrangement. A big hit of the morning was the arrival of the Republic RC-3 Seabee plane.
