On Sunday (July 26), a leak was reported on Connaught Road in East Cowes, causing water to cascade down the adjacent Oakfield Road. They said they sought permission from Southern Water before going ahead. The couple estimated they had saved 1,000 litres of water and even pumped some for their neighbours. A Southern Water spokesperson said: "While we understand why people may consider collecting water from a leak, we would not encourage this due to safety concerns. Southern Water confirmed the leak on Connaught Road has now been repaired.
