The collision occurred on New Year's Eve 2024 at the mini roundabout on Avenue Road, High Street and Culver Parade, in SandownA pedestrian, Mr Nicholls, and a Nissan Qashqai, driven by Mr Manning, was involved. Mr Nicholls was initially stabilised and airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. Oscar Vincent, defending, said it is argued Mr Manning was driving to the required standard and with due care and attention. A trial is expected to be heard at the Isle of Wight Crown Court. Mr Manning has been granted unconditional bail until that date.
