‘Deep concerns’ at Isle of Wight care home - CQC finds choking and malnutrition risks
['Oliver Dyer']
Isle of Wight County Press | News
The CQC issued The Moorings Care Home, in Cowes, with two warning notices after finding 11 rule breaches during a visit between May and June.
Staff put residents at risk of malnutrition and dehydration by failing to use recognised assessment tools properly.
Some residents appeared well cared for, but others were unkempt, with long dirty fingernails, unshaven facial hair and dirty clothes.
"The people living at The Moorings deserved much better care, especially in a place they called home."
He said the home has launched an improvement programme, appointed a manager and is working with Isle of Wight Council, the CQC and the NHS.
