The Hurst Castle to Colwell Bay crossing took place on Saturday, July 25, in support of the West Wight Sports and Community Centre, and was backed by 46 kayakers, six powerboats, and the Freshwater Independent Lifeboat.
Clare Griffin, event director and centre manager at the West Wight Sports and Community Centre, said: "This year's swim was our biggest ever and what an incredible day it was.
The first swimmer to reach shore was Lottie James, a coach at West Wight Swimming Club.
Emotional moments included the arrival of siblings Paula and Chris Miles, grandchildren of Shirley Miles, one of the volunteers who helped build the swimming pool at West Wight Sports and Community Centre.
The West Wight Sports and Community Centre’s pool will mark its 50th anniversary in 2028, with plans already under way for long-term upgrades.
