The site is primarily planted with Sitka spruce, alongside Norway spruce, Scots pine and mixed broadleaves, creating a varied age profile across the forest. Kerry Hughes, investment director for energy and forestry at Blackfinch, said Harehope East Forest offered the key characteristics the company looks for, including strong growing conditions, access to timber markets and established infrastructure. Harehope East Forest benefits from fertile, free-draining soils, an established road network and its own quarry, supporting future forestry operations and timber harvesting. Blackfinch said Harehope East Forest represents a strong addition to its portfolio as it continues to build a collection of high-quality commercial forestry assets across the UK.
