Journeys on the Bittern Line, which runs between Sheringham and Norwich, have soared by 313pc since 1994, rising from just over 200,000 a year to more than 827,000. Mr Denby, who lives in Norwich and has worked closely with the north Norfolk line since 1994, added: "In just over 30 years, the number of people using the line has quadrupled, which is just wonderful for on a local line in lovely North Norfolk." From Sheringham, the line continued on to Melton Constable, which sat on the cross-county Midland and Great Northern network. From the early 20th century until the end of steam services, in 1962, coastal holiday services ran from London Liverpool Street up to the north Norfolk coast.
