Love Your Market Town awards up to £5,000 for events and projects that boost footfall and celebrate the character of local towns through festivals, trails and other initiatives. Gez Chetal, owner of the Thomas Paine Hotel in Thetford, said: "The Love Your Market Town grant has made an immense impression on this town. Thetford used the grant to launch a trail honouring the philosopher Thomas Paine, behind books include The Rights of Man. Diss, in south Norfolk, saw shopfront refurbishments and a heritage trail, while North Walsham attracted crowds for its Christmas lights switch-on.
