The Standing Eight, a verbatim production created by Theatre Alliance, is built from interviews with eight women involved in Scottish boxing. Theatre Alliance said the decision to perform in venues rooted in boxing communities, rather than traditional theatres, was deliberate. A spokesperson said: "By performing in boxing communities rather than traditional theatres, Theatre Alliance places the people and culture of the sport at the heart of the experience." The Glasgow 2026 Festival, running from May 23 to August 9, features hundreds of community-led events and activities across the city. The festival is presented with Glasgow Life and has received a funding boost, with the Glasgow 2026 Festival Fund increasing from £250,000 to £1.25 million to help build a lasting legacy of creativity and participation.
