Kankawa Nagarra, a Walmatjarri elder from the Kimberley region of north-west Australia, will appear at the Glad Cafe on August 5.
Nagarra didn’t own a guitar until she was 40, yet her late-blooming musical journey has earned her critical acclaim.
Kankawa Nagarra will perform in Glasgow this August (Image: Supplied)The artist's music is deeply influenced by traditional tribal songs, gospel music from the mission where she grew up, and the country and rock 'n' roll she encountered while working on a pastoral lease.
Her winning album Wirlmarni was recorded outdoors on her own Country and features a mix of musical styles and four Indigenous languages.
As part of the tour, Hanlon will perform a solo set, lead a Q&A with Nagarra about her life and music, and accompany her on electric guitar during her performance.
