LAHORE – Pakistan Railways has suspended the operation of the Shalimar Express, a premium train service running between Lahore and Karachi, for one month following damage to a railway bridge caused by floodwaters.
The Shalimar Express operates between Lahore and Karachi via Faisalabad.
However, train operations between Lahore and Faisalabad have been halted after the Qila Sattar Shah-Misan Kallar railway bridge was affected by floodwater.
The Shalimar Express is operated with the cooperation of the private sector and is among Pakistan Railways’ premium train services.
Meanwhile, the route of another major train service, the Karakoram Express, has also been changed.
