To accomplish the airy redo, the Duluth assisted and independent living community removed multiple offices and a mailroom, filling the area with spaces for residents to hang out. The goal was to foster a sense of community, said Executive Director Brian Pattock. “When you re-enter into a senior living environment, what a great opportunity to just begin life over again by making new friends and sharing your life story,” he said. “That sense of community is just so vitally important for me, but also for the residents, being able to experience that every day.”
