According to the rules, drivers exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 km/h (12 mph) face a €150 fine and a 20-day driver’s license suspension. Exceeding the limit by more than 30 km/h (19 mph) carries a €350 fine and a one-month license suspension. Drivers caught traveling more than 50 km/h (31 mph) above the speed limit face a €700 fine and a two-month suspension. For drivers caught traveling above 200 km/h, penalties become substantially more severe.
