A contractor who went missing in a storm drain in Downers Grove had still not been found by the time an ongoing search finished for the day on Tuesday, authorities said. Authorities also said the efforts were focused in the storm sewer near Carpenter Street between Gilbert Avenue and Curtiss Street. The missing contractor is one of two who went missing after becoming trapped in a sewer drain as intense storms that brought tornado warnings, hail and damaging winds pummeled the region on Monday. The fire department said it transitioned from rescue to a recovery operation as of Monday evening, as water conditions within the sewer made additional search efforts "extremely dangerous."
