US immigration authorities have not challenged the process through which Dr Shuliak obtained her citizenship. Months after the marriage, Dr Shuliak got a green card, making her a lawful resident. There are dozens of beneficiaries in addition to Dr Shuliak, including Mark Epstein’s children, who stand to inherit $10 million. Yet despite this potential windfall, Dr Shuliak did not give up on her desire to be a dentist. The university did not recommend any consequences for Dr Shuliak, who it said had met the qualifications for admission.
