On Wednesday, Auckland Council and its development agency Tataki Auckland Unlimited formally launched plans for the Western Springs Bowl. Open-wheel speedway racing activity moved to Waikaraka Park alongside stock car racing thanks in part to an $11 million injection from the Auckland Council. Earlier this month the Western Springs Speedway Association took its quest to save speedway racing at the venue to the High Court. “Western Springs Bowl gives Auckland’s wider stadium network a clear point of difference. Foo Fighters will play at the Western Springs Bowl in January, 2027.
