LGBTQ+ lawmakers had pushed for years to roll back a statute first enacted amid the fear and misinformation surrounding the AIDS epidemic. In passing the legislation, Pennsylvania lawmakers agreed that an HIV diagnosis alone should not expose someone to a felony conviction.
