The traditional August round-ups have been cancelled, while drifts from September remain under review. It is the first confirmed equine flu case in the New Forest for more than 30 years. The public have been urged to keep clear of ponies and stop ridden horses using shared forest water sources. The outbreak has prompted additional precautions at the New Forest and Hampshire County Show from July 28 to 30. Organisers now require all horses, ponies, and donkeys attending the show to be vaccinated against equine flu.
