On Tuesday, the Minneapolis NAACP called on city officials to do more to help people at the dilapidated Heritage Park housing development in north Minneapolis and said it may take legal action on behalf of the residents.
Earlier this month, the Minneapolis City Council approved $2.5 million in emergency funds to make repairs and potentially help residents relocate from Heritage Park, where about 685 people live.
Pastor Brian Heron of Zion Baptist church denounced the conditions at Heritage Park during a news conference.
Last month, the NAACP called for the immediate resignation or termination of Minneapolis Public Housing Executive Director Abdi Warsame, a full investigation into conditions at Heritage Park, and a review of the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority's management and oversight.
