Earlier this week, contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) Cellares announced its partnership with biotechnology company Papillon Therapeutics.
The deal will focus on the manufacturing of Papillon’s lead drug candidate, CRISPR-based cell therapy PPL-001, for treating Friedreich’s ataxia (FA).
According to Papillon, PPL-001 is a cell therapy designed to be administered one time.
Papillon’s partnership with Cellares will focus on transferring the PPL-001 therapy to Cellares’s cell shuttle platform, an end-to-end cell therapy manufacturing process.
Papillon has recently gained significant boosts from US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) programs recently adopted by the US government.
