Many of those starts, especially during Iowa State’s 11-win 2024, were terrific. Becht, Penn State’s new starting quarterback, threw for 3,505 yards that year and added 25 touchdown passes. When Matt Campbell left Iowa State for Penn State after the 2025 season, Becht knew he wanted to join Campbell in State College for 2026. “Being at Iowa State with (Campbell) for the past four years has taught me a lot,” Becht said. “So, us Iowa State guys are kind of just laying that foundation so these guys can follow.”
