The teams tied for the third spot in the National League wild-card race required extra innings for the second consecutive night. Perdomo tripled to right, then scored on Moreno’s groundout to second base for a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Then Perdomo’s grounder went through the legs of second baseman Lowe, allowing Waldschmidt to score from second. Lefty Brandon Eisert was a bright spot in 2 1/3 innings of relief, stranding runners at second base in the seventh and at third base in the eighth. Morillo struck out Gonzales and got Rodriguez to pop up to the catcher in foul territory to force extra innings.
