RE-think, which advocates for a rethink of large-scale wind projects in Wales, said it was "heartened" by the response to its campaign at the Royal Welsh Show this week, describing it as one of the group’s busiest events since its formation in 2023. The group displayed a large hand-made map of Wales, showing both operational and proposed wind farm sites, as well as planned power lines of 132kV or above. According to RE-think, at least 40 significant wind farm projects are currently in the pipeline, with or without planning permission, which are not yet built. The group is now calling on the Welsh Government to impose a moratorium on new large-scale wind farm consents. Ms Chryss said Wales has alternative technologies available that could help achieve carbon reduction targets without the negative effects of current large-scale wind proposals.
