Crews have been responding to wildfires and outdoor blazes on open ground, including parks and gardens. A spokesman for the service said: "Recent hot and dry weather has led to an increase in outdoor fires across Hertfordshire. Recommendations include avoiding open fires in the countryside, disposing of cigarettes safely, and using barbecues only where permitted. People are urged to take their litter home, particularly glass bottles which could start fires in dry conditions. To improve its response to wildfires, the service has deployed five specialised 4x4 vehicles known as Nebulas.
