Jamie Bennington, 46, had approached the police as they detained a woman suspected of shoplifting at the Asda store in Stowmarket on April 27 this year. On Monday, Suffolk Magistrates Court heard that Bennington told the police to let the woman go and tried to grab her handbag, which they suspected contained the stolen items. The court heard the woman was not Bennington’s partner. He was then captured on CCTV punching the wingmirrors of two cars in the supermarket carpark. He was ordered to pay £600 compensation to the two car owners.
