The charge is being led by campaigners from Snape who have called on Suffolk County Council to take action to provide better services in east Suffolk. Suffolk Coastal MP Jenny Riddell-Carpenter organised a meeting of experts from the county council, bus firm First Bus East, bus user representative body East Suffolk Travel Association and accessible transport organisation Coastal Accessible Transport Services to discuss the situation. "Rural east Suffolk is a bus desert. A survey of villagers in October showed that 94% would use a regular bus service if one were available. She added: "After record funding from government to invest in bus services in our county, it is only right that rural east Suffolk also now feels that benefit."
