SRINAGAR: Authorities on Wednesday ordered the closure of all government and private schools in Doda district and most parts of Kishtwar district as continuous heavy rainfall and worsening weather conditions raised safety concerns across the region.
However, schools within Kishtwar town, from Malipeth to Cherhar, have been exempted from the order and will remain open.
The administration said official work in educational institutions, wherever applicable, would continue as usual and advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas until weather conditions improve.
In Doda district, all government and private schools were directed to remain closed because of persistent rainfall and adverse weather conditions.
Students and parents have been urged to follow all advisories issued by the district administration and school authorities.
