SRINAGAR: A court in Srinagar has convicted a man for fraudulently obtaining appointment as a constable in the 9th Battalion of the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) by using a forged 10+2 qualification certificate, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir said on Wednesday.
According to the EOW, formerly known as the Crime Branch Kashmir, the conviction came in a long-pending recruitment fraud case.
In default of payment of the fine, he will undergo 15 days’ simple imprisonment.
The court also awarded two years’ simple imprisonment under Section 471 RPC for using a forged document as genuine.
An EOW spokesperson said the forged certificate was seized during the investigation and sent to the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) for verification.
