The Forward Seaman Union of India (FSUI) has raised the alarm over 13 Indian seafarers trapped aboard a cargo vessel caught in the conflict zone near Ukraine's Chornomorsk port, amid repeated drone and missile attacks in the area.
In an X post, the union shared video footage showing plumes of smoke rising near the vessel, underscoring the danger the crew currently faces.
The union said the vessel, MV Amir1, is carrying a 15-member crew, including 13 Indian nationals, and remains stranded near the port as strikes continue in the vicinity.
AMIR1, currently at Ukrainian port Chornomorsk with 15 crew on board, including 13 Indian seafarers, is trapped in a terrible and life-threatening situation.
The incident comes days after an Indian seafarer was killed when Ukrainian drones struck another vessel, MV Omorfi, in the Black Sea.
