David Roth, the Democratic nominee for a U.S. Senate seat in Idaho, announced Tuesday afternoon that he is ending his campaign against incumbent Jim Risch. There had been calls for Roth to step aside to make room for Todd Achilles, an independent candidate who is also running against Risch. Roth announced the end of his campaign in a news release distributed just before 5 p.m. PDT Tuesday. “I entered this race because I believe deeply in what Democrats are fighting for across Idaho," Roth wrote. “I have concluded that I can make the greatest difference by focusing my time and energy on helping Democrats win up and down the ballot and in communities across Idaho."
