Beech Hill Hotel, on the eastern shore of Windermere, can go ahead with constructing two replacement jetties with planners satisfied the scheme will protect the lake’s landscape and wildlife.
The hotel, a long-established four-star venue off the A592 between Bowness and Newby Bridge, sits within the Windermere Villas Conservation Area and the Windermere County Wildlife Site.
Consent for an extension was granted in 2006 (Image: Planning documents)The structures were destroyed by Storm Arwen in November 2021.
The Environment Agency raised no objections, stating the submitted flood risk assessment was appropriate and that the scheme would be safe without increasing flood risk elsewhere.
Planning permission has been granted subject to standard conditions requiring work to begin within three years and to be carried out in line with the approved plans, flood risk assessment and method statement.
