The Emporia State volleyball team survived a five-set thriller to extend their winning streak to 13 in a 22-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-22, 15-11 victory over Pittsburg State at John Lance Arena in Pittsburg, Kan. Friday night. ESU jumped on top in the first set early but PSU roared back to lead by as many as six in the frame. ESU trimmed the deficit to three but the Gorillas ended the set on a 7-2 run to take a 1-0 lead. Down six in the fourth stanza, ESU found a 14-4 run and cashed in their third set point to send it to a fifth set. ESU raced out to a 4-0 advantage early and never trailed in the fifth to seal the win.
