The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office shared around 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27 that fire units were responding to a small fire near Centerville. The fire is located on federal land on the east side of the Arkansas River in the Browns Canyon area. The Chaffee County Fire Protection District (CCFPD) shared an update on the fire’s status around 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28. Aircraft remains an option based on availability and local weather,” continues the CCFPD update. We have been in direct communication with our USFS partners and remain in a ready state for any response and support needed,” concludes the CCFPD update.
