One of the biggest surprises in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has nothing to do with superheroes. Also, for the first time, Peter Parker sounds like he is a kid from Queens. Fresh off Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, Holland brings a new level of emotional maturity to Peter Parker. He reminds us that Peter Parker has always been Marvel's most human hero, and this film leans into that humanity more than any previous installment. Spider-Man: Brand New Day doesn't try to outdo the trilogy, but it outshines it in almost every way imaginable.
