Police issue request to ‘stay out of the area’ near gas leak in Breckenridge neighborhood

2:55 p.m.: Breckenridge Police Department spokesperson Colleen Goettelman said crews were digging up fiber optic infrastructure in the area and hit a gas line and that police are on scene directing traffic.
2:35 p.m.: A Summit County alert is asking the public to avoid the area of Broken Lance Drive and Columbine Road in Breckenridge following a reported gas leak.
Anyone needing to access the Warriors Mark neighborhood is asked to use Gold King Way, which intersects with Colorado Highway 9 near Goose Pasture Tarn.
Summit Daily News has sent injuries to to Red, White & Blue Fire Protection District and Breckenridge Police Department, the agencies that authorized the Summit County alert.
