Summit School District teachers will receive scheduled pay increases next school year while giving up one paid workday under a newly ratified labor agreement designed to help the district close a budget shortfall. The district and teachers reached the agreement following negotiations last school year, and the Summit School District Board of Education approved the package on May 21 with changes to take effect at the start of this school year. Employees will not work that day and will forgo one day of pay during the 2026-27 school year. Additionally, the district plans to implement several new employee support programs like expanded mental health and employee assistance benefits. The labor agreement also addresses the possibility of a mill levy override appearing on Summit County ballots this November.
