The federal government has launched an ambitious initiative to modernize Pakistan’s public payment system by establishing the Government Payments and Receipts Transformation Unit (GPRTU) within the Finance Division. The unit will lead the integration of federal institutions with the Raast instant payment system, aiming to create a secure, standardized and interoperable digital payments ecosystem. According to the Finance Division, the newly established unit will spearhead the implementation of end-to-end digital payment and receipt solutions across government departments, improving efficiency, transparency and financial governance. The Infrastructure & System Engineer will be responsible for deploying and maintaining secure, high-availability infrastructure, ensuring system resilience, disaster recovery and uninterrupted operation of the government’s digital payment ecosystem. The Finance Division said these positions are central to the government’s strategy of developing a unified, secure and interoperable digital payments framework capable of supporting large-scale government disbursements and revenue collections through the Raast platform, marking another significant step in Pakistan’s digital public finance transformation.
