Cloud providers are quietly rethinking what it even means to sell AI compute, and Vultr‘s latest move fits squarely into that shift. Software remains the harder question for AMD’s cloud ambitions. The company keeps expanding ROCm compatibility to work better with popular AI frameworks, but developers rarely switch cloud infrastructure just because a spec sheet looks better. For Vultr specifically, expanding its cloud accelerator lineup gives it a way to compete against much larger hyperscale cloud providers without trying to match them on every front. Specialized cloud infrastructure has become one of the few real differentiators smaller cloud providers have left in an increasingly consolidated market.
